Programme Director – Aga Khan Foundation

Early childhood development is one of the many core programmes of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in East Africa. AFK wishes to recruit an experienced regional programme director for the Madrass Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) in East Africa.
Location: Mombasa
Responsibilities
  • Guide and develop close coordination and collaboration among three madrass resource centre
  • Develop and implement long term logistics for madrass resource centre
  • Provide leadership and management capacity, especially on programme planning and implementation
  • Give strategic directions on leadership in successful madrass resource centre current and future programme objectives
  • Support community by strengthening the communication strategies of madrass resource centre
Qualifications and skills 
  • Post graduate in education
  • 5 years experience in education sector preferably in early childhood
  • Advanced knowledge of principles, theories and practices in one or more of the following areas: organizational development, change management and leadership development
  • Excellent and a solid record of working with the government and non governmental organizations especially locally
  • General experience of working in east Africa because the post will also involve traveling to different regions
  • Can manage complex grants; programme planning, implantation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high quality oral and written communication
  • Work independently and manage a regional team to meet high deadlines
