Director of Population and Social Statistics

Kenya National Bureau of statistics (KNBS) is a body established under the statistics act 2006. Its responsibility is to collect, compile, analyze, publicize and disseminate of official statistics information. However, it oversees coordination, supervision and development programmes within the National Statistics System. The body seeks to call on qualified applicants to apply for the position of Director of Population and Social statistics.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the Director of population and social statistics
• Make sure that all the divisional activities are documented on a continues basis
• Be responsible for collection, analyzing and dissemination of population and health related data.
• Come up with quarterly progress report on the activities of the Division
• Offer technical support and resource mobilization efforts among partners in population and health programming
• Be at the front in the implementation of population censuses and demographic and health survey.
• Came up with plan and budget for population and health division
• Carry out staff training on demographic analysis, survey implementation and statistical report writing;
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Director Population and social statistics

Qualifications 

 

• A master’s degree in demography or population studies from a reputable University
• Minimum of ten years experience
• Also should have five years experience in a managerial position in a public institution or private sector 
• Excellent project management especially in conducting census
• A Kenyan citizen between 35 to 45 years
• Knowledge in word processing software (Microsoft office, PowerPoint and excel), census software (CPSro and IMPS), statistical analysis software (SPSS, STATA, SAS)
• Should have good communication, interpersonal and be a positive team player
• Know how of financial regulations and procedure for the government and major development partners
