Feed the children- Kenya in partnership with United Nation World Food Programs is implementing Maternal and Child Health Nutrition (MCHN) program in Langata and Thika. We are currently seeking to recruit for two positions of nutritionists to be based in Districts mentioned above. This will be a nine month contract. The position will report to the MCHN program coordinator
Responsibility
- Together with District nutrition officer, come up with monthly food request for all supplementary program in the health facilities within the Districts
- Join with District nutrition officer to initiate and ensure meetings with key stakeholders within the Districts and be an active participant in these meetings, however, should produce minutes of these meetings.
- Ensure health facilities based mother to mother support group are held monthly.
- Should be an active member in all meeting and submit all the minutes to the agency partner
- Carry out nutrition program supportive supervision, including training health facility staff.
- Prepare monthly health supervision report and submit to agency and partners
- Promote nutrition education and other high impact nutrition interventions such as infant and young children feeding
- Carry out monthly demonstrations of supplementary feeding program ratio to newly joined health facilities
Academic requirement for this position
- Degree in human nutrition from a major recognized university
- Working knowledge in Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition
- Able to manage supplementary feeding programs
- Excellent coordination at the health facilities and at the District level
- Work at a minimum supervision
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with nutrition programs; partnership with the Ministry of public health and sanitation
- Skills in managing databases and coming up with reports
