Kenya Medical Research Institution (KEMRI) is a state corporation through the science and technology (amendment) act of 1979. It’s among the leading health care research institution in Africa. The main mandate of KEMRI is to carry out research in Kenya. The main visions is to be a leading centre of excellence in the promotion of quality health and its main goal is to improve on the quality of health and human life through research. To achieve this mission KEMRI seeks to recruit for the following positions;
Assistance Director (finance)
MR/15
The ideal candidate who will be selected for this position will have the main responsibility to oversee timely and accurate operation of accounting and financial management information necessary to control income and expenditure.
Responsibilities
- Provide the necessary leadership and mentorship
- Carry out budgeting plan with MTEF in liaison with line government ministries and relevant sectors
- Prepare financial reports that is quarterly or annually, this should be in line with public service performance contracting guidelines
- Develop and implement robust financial systems in conformity with international financial reporting standards at the same time monitor all the implementation
- Manage internal budgetary controls in collaboration with other departments within the institute
- Development and implementation of prudent internal accounting and financial checks and controls
- Control, formulate and coordinating of all financial procedures and regulations
Qualifications
- Possess an MBA or MSc (accounting or finance) and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Certified public accountant (K) or an equivalent
- 7 years minimum experience in accounts and finance in a large organization with an annual budget of over 2Billion
- An advantage will be those who will have the following: Diploma in health service administration and experience in public sector accounts and finance management
- 5 years minimum experience in a senior management position
- Computerized accounting knowledge and financial software applications
- Be a member of the institute of certified public accountants of Kenya.

Commercial Manager
The main duties include; high degree of specialized expertise and skill in a quality and accurate business information analysis. Self discipline and have a positive approach of achieving the set results
The ideal candidate will report to Production manager, will coordinate and drive the sales management and commercial progresses. Ensure KEMRI unit is guided to make informed decisions through analysis of data and regular update information that will ensure a more focused customer attention and improved customer service.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales management target process from a commercial perspective
- Coordinate and review pricing and price index for all products
- Come up with suitable databases or files for the collection, storage and sharing of relevant sales data
- Compile and disseminate commercial reports both locally and to the cluster
- Compile sales management information required for cluster business deployment plan process
- Ensure all promotional materials are up to date thus including the websites
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to get monthly view on sales forecast
- Develop a value chain analysis model for the main products
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree of science or pharmacy
- Experience and professional qualification in marketing
- Possession of an MBA will be a plus
- Database knowledge
- Three years experience in a manufacturing company dealing with medical and related products, of which one year must be at a senior level
