KEMRI – welcome trust research programme is very well known internationally for its work in carrying out the duties of tackling Malaria and other badly infectious diseases, particularly bacterial and viral child hood infections. Currently the programme is seeking to recruit head of community engagement. The qualified candidate will be stationed at Kilifi.

Main roles

• He or she will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of all the community engagement in the KEMRI welcome trust research in Kilifi and also inclusive of other areas around Kenya.
• Will be supporting high quality, ethical biomedical research thus by maximizing mutual understanding between the local residents/research participants and programme staff based on a positive, transparency and respectful relationship

Have a diploma in mechanical engineering

Experience

• 10 years borehole drilling and out of this 5 years must be in a supervisory level.
• Those with certificate in water technology will have an added advantage
• Should have a previous exposure in isolated and more so a remote area.
• Rotary /percussion drilling including DHT,MUD drilling ODEX, operating high pressure screw type air compressor, borehole test pumping.

Responsibilities

• Vets deign and vet all tender documents, to ensure that KAA interests are included and secured within the contract
• Carry out all claims for additional payment or extension of time

• Carry out all the examination of contracts bonds, guarantees and insurance to ensure that comply with the requirement of the contract.
• Liaison with the financiers so that all the documents are submitted for approval
